It has been a vision of mine to help more women of color not only have wonderful births, but also HEALTHY pregnancies, births, and babies. Statistically, Black women living in the USA are not receiving the care that they deserve.
In the United States, Black women are four times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women. They also have the highest rates of premature births. Black infants are 2.4 times more likely as white infants to die in their first year of life. Studies have shown that when people of color from any country immigrate to the USA the risk of maternal death in childbirth increases for each year they spend in the United States.
